- Port Augusta to Coober Pedy. In convoy with Pete and Sarah. Us following until Pete had a drive of Arvi who had a turn of the lead!
- Still wildflowers on side of road purple white and pink. All very green and I didn't know there were so many shades of green. From the silver green of the saltbush, to the to grey green of the acacias, the deep olive green of the desert oaks to the vivid almost lime green of ? Another bush.
- We stopped for lunch on a bush track made wind breaks with the car and Arvi and Pete cooked sausages, steak and onions!
- Flies were a problem so Sarah gave us all fly nets to wear over hats. Did the trick except some of us kept trying to put food in our mouths through the net!
- Coober Pedy caravan park was a bit grim but went to nice hotel to have dinner with S and P. Beautiful rock wall in entrance .
- Coober Pedy is opal mining town. Nearly all of worlds opals come from here. Mines and mounds of whitish dirt/rocks dotted everywhere from past drilling!
- Can go noodling which is sifting through the material drilled and left at side of holes- some of which were rather deep- to look for opals.
- Important to stay on tracks and not wander off into bush as may fall down hole!
- Please see photos on Day 5 cos somehow thats where they went!! I have not yet mastered this blog thing!
