Day 7

Day 7

  • Coober Pedy to Alice Springs- the final leg and the longest drive! About 7 and a half hours or 750km!
  • Got away nice and early. In convoy again. Mostly straight road.
  • Wildflowers still present and in some areas a field of white, red and purple. Now lots of red dirt   too so we felt we were really approaching the centre of Australia.
  • Saw two wedge tailed eagles who flew away when we slowly drove past them feasting on a kangaroo on the roadside. Huge birds and so majestic soaring up into the blue sky.
  • Emus also spotted but no live kangaroos!
  • Another BBQ lunch shared with about a million flies. Donned the fly nets but some of us kept trying to poke the food into our mouths through the net.
  • Arrived into Alice Springs about 4pm and met Lucy in a park near their accommodation in the hospital grounds. Some of the locals also sitting about.
  • Mojo was very excited to see her and then Daniel who pulled up in a truck shortly after. Lasted about 5 minutes and then it was like they had never been parted!
  • We checked into the Heritage Caravan Park which is lovely with grass and trees, a pool, a dog wash and an area to have the dogs off the lead.
  • Luce and Daniel picked us up minus Mojo and we met Sarah and Pete at their hotel for dinner. nice end to a big day.

  1. Love the red earth!! Would love to photograph it. Great shot. Mojo must have been so happy to see Lucy and Daniel. Dogs never forget do they? A little surprised you are not seeing live kangaroos. How are the sunsets?
